GREEN DRAGON Established to provide cost effective Safety Health Environment &  Fire Risk Management solutions for small to medium sized companies, is led by Ian Hughes.

Ian Hughes Green Dragon Health and SafetyIan lives on North Tyneside with wife Lynn, and their two children Thomas & Amber. At 46 years of age Ian devotes most of his spare time to the family and the children’s many activities. A current scheme is assisting son Thomas and some of his school pals in the building of (yet another) robot for the BBC series Robot Wars.

Ian has been involved in all aspects of safety since being co-opted on to a British Railways workshop safety committee in 1979 as the apprentices’ representative.

Since completion of his engineering apprenticeship Ian has progressed from the shop floor to management in various positions with local, national and international companies.

Some of the better known companies Ian has worked with include; British Railways, The National Freight Corporation, British Road Services, Ford Motor Company, Monsanto, Nuttalls, Fairclough, The MOD, The Defence Estates, Caterpillar, Kellogg Brown Root, Kuwaiti Dynamics Ltd (KDL) and General Electric.

Ian has worked in the UK, Europe and the Middle East, having recently returned from Iraq where one of his tasks was to write up the SHEF (Safety, Health, Environment & Fire) policy and management manual for the coalition force logistic base at Shaibah in Southern Iraq (SLB).

Ian now enjoys working with smaller companies both locally and nationally, as it is easier and more rewarding to talk with the decision makers and where the benefits brought by safe systems of work and the management of risk are more readily appreciated. GREEN DRAGON works with companies ranging from a self employed painter and decorator through medium sized distribution and warehousing companies, haulage contractors, plant hirers, engineering companies, distributors and in all office environments.

A member of the Fire Protection Association (FPA) and of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Ian and all GREEN DRAGON employees embrace CPD principles to keep them abrest of continuing changes in legislation.

Ian is listed on the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (OSHCR).
