Whilst the team were out and about on their visits, they came across what they thought was a great April fools joke…. Until they realised it wasn’t.

Temporary extensions are just that, temporary. They must not be used in place of a fixed electrical supply, due the hazards of overheating and catching fire. 

This particular extension was being used at height, in the ceiling. 

Further to this, not having the correct electrical set up may put you in breach of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and other subsequent workplace regulations such as the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992. 

A fire risk assessment and independent inspection allows your workplace to be viewed by fresh eyes to pick up items like the above.
